Blank Canvas

Its crazy how someone can move to another place with a new environment and start their new life on a blank canvas. You can make yourself out to be whoever you want. If they were not the cool and popular kid at their previous location; when they move, its their opportunity to make themselves the person they always want to be. So word of advice. If you were not that popular kid for whatever, try doing the opposite of what you were doing at the previous spot. Biggest word of advice to achieving popularity: Get a complete make-over. Meaning start and continue to look fresh by getting a whole new wardrobe. Key to popularity is making people want to be your friend.

Virginia Fashion Week 2009 Recap

The crowd for the two-day finale, significantly larger than last year's, included a beauty queen representing Turkey and a 2010 congressional candidate taking a break from politicking.

The event's organizers had worked all year to build momentum for this year's show, its third. The recession weighed heavily last year on the turnout and the scope of the event, largely put on by volunteer efforts.

Organizers began early this year to raise the show's profile by becoming more community-oriented and holding events alongside social service organizations. Other changes followed. This year, Virginia talent made up a large share of the featured designers. The venue, the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel, had the ritzy ambience befitting couture.

Expanded events were spread across the state. Parties, competitions and shows were held in Charlottesville, Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke and Virginia Beach. The finale always wraps up in South Hampton Roads.

Ann Leister, owner of Virginia Beach-based Splash Model Management, conceptualized Virginia Fashion Week as an avenue to showcase the state as a hotbed for design talent, a pool of models and a welcoming climate for fashion backdrops.

Menswear was classic, edgy and fun. Neutrals were jazzed with splashes of color, whether it was a lime necktie paired with a dark suit in a look presented by Keith Thorogood of Suffolk or colorful neckties used as belts with jeans by Karen Domino White. White, who lives in New Jersey and is the daughter of rock 'n' roll great Fats Domino, creates the Jean Therapy line.

My Twin

It's so crazy how one day you find yourself becoming friends with someone who shares that exact same birthday as you. We started out as friends and now we are more like brother and sister, more so TWINS. But not only is our birthdays exactly the same, we are pretty much mixed with the same races. It's crazy how the life plays out.

Prom Date

To clear it up, my prom date was and is not a stripper. In high school my prom date went to a dancing school and was very talented at dancing. After high-school she became a go-go dancer not a stripper. The difference to those who don't know is: I stripper takes all her clothes off and a go-go dance simply dances in at least lingerie. She was a friend of mine from a different high school then mine and who doesn't want the pretty girl from other school so that the two of you can be the talk of prom till the ending days of high school. Well I was one of them. Not being bias but just from what other people were saying, my prom date had to be the finest girls there, but I say she was 1 out of 2 because the girl I had been friends with since second grade was pose to be my date and was the best looking girl in high-school. I regret not taking her because it would have added to our lifetime memories together but I do not regret taking my date!

What Is Perfect?

Something I am not... There have been many people who tell me that my life is so perfect but fail to realize what I go through. They will never really understand until they put themselves in my shoes. But I guess that is my fault because everyday I put on a costume to cover up my issues.

Personal Blogs

As I sit in the dark
I read blogs.
Itz so crazy,
because as you read,
you began to understand that person better.
Some people you can relate with,
and some you can only imagine.
I like personal blogs
because
I began to know you
and
you began to know me!
